September President's Message - Sea Food Fest Sept 7, Warm Dives Ahead

I can’t believe the summer is nearly over! Time seems to pass so quickly. That being said, we still have the opportunity to enjoy some warm water diving. There are several dive outings on the calendar and I hope to see many of you participate.

Our annual Keys Weekend was a great success. I think everyone enjoyed themselves. Regarding the dives, there was significant current, especially on the first dive, but all in all the diving was fine. The pool / cocktail party was a blast with lots of good food and drinks. We lucked out with the weather in that we only got a brief shower on Friday evening and then another brief shower Saturday afternoon. Dinner at Lazy Days was terrific as usual and the two servers we had were the best we have ever had. They did a great job.

Our annual Sea Food Fest will be held at the VFW on September 7. Please note that we have pushed the start time up to 6:30 in an attempt to take advantage of hopefully slightly cooler temperatures. As usual, bring whatever you would like to be grilled and our expert chefs will prepare it for you. It should be seasoned and ready to go on the grill and it doesn’t necessarily have to be seafood. Please also bring a covered dish to share. Also, as usual, delicious drunken chicken will be available. Beer, wine, soda and water will also be provided. Mixed drinks will be available in the bar at your own expense.

I am still in the early planning stages of our overseas trip for next year. I’d really like to take advantage of the DEMA specials and they haven been announced yet. As soon as I get more information, I will pass it on to you.

I’m looking forward to seeing many of you on a dive boat, a meeting, or at the Sea Food Fest.

Live long and lobster.
