| Oceanic Recall |
Summer is officially here and you can definitely tell. There is no wind, it’s muggy, seas are calm, and an occasional thunderstorm. Yes, its perfect diving weather so get out there and make up for the lost time we had at the beginning of the year. The club trip to Cozumel this month has come and gone, but we were left with some fantastic pictures and great diving memories. The resort however was somewhat of an adventure. When we arrived, we came into the end of a tropical storm that they had for four days of straight rain, which left electrical and A/C chiller problems from the flooding, not to mention 24 inches of rain alone on the airport runway. But, the next day was the first day of our five day diving extravaganza with beautiful weather. The diving there was fantastic to say the least, the diving operation and dive masters were the best and the pictures should be plentiful, just ask everyone that brought their cameras, especially Jon Black who shot over a thousand pictures alone. There is another trip to the Andros the beginning of July with Joe Smiriga.. Have fun everyone ! The club calendar for the month of July is full. There is of course the infamous mini lobster season, charter diving, casino night at the Hard Rock Café, shoot’em up night, and more. Check the calendar for your sign ups. Our speaker for this month will be, Rick Smith to talk about hyperbaric chambers and more. One last thing, this is mini lobster season month, if you are going out, just remember to get your lobster license, and wherever your diving, know the limits on the amount you can take, check the size, and dive safe. Dear Valued Oceanic Customer,

are likely not directly affected by this notice. However, we hope that as a
valued customer you can help us to get the word out to someone that is.
Please feel free to pass this information on to other divers, dive clubs,

The following is the text portion from the Consumer Notice, Doc. 12-2647,

OCEANIC
CONSUMER NOTICE
STOP PRODUCT USE
BUOYANCY COMPENSATOR INFLATORS
Oceanic has been informed by its supplier that they have received isolated
reports of BC Inflator mechanisms exhibiting continual flow of air into the
BC after release of the power inflation button. Affected are Oceanic
Reliant model Inflators that are fitted on various models of Oceanic?s BCs
that were sold between February 1, 2004, and June 24, 2004. BCs sold prior
to February 1, 2004, do not have these Inflators and are not affected.
Testing and evaluation has shown that the Power Inflator Button may stick in
the depressed position. Engineers have designed new replacement parts that
will prevent the Button from sticking.
Oceanic asks that all owners of Oceanic BCs that have Reliant Inflators
return them to an Authorized Oceanic Dealer for a retrofit at no charge.
WARNING: DO NOT CONTINUE USE of the BC or attempt to disassemble any
components of the Inflator. Take the BC with Inflator to your nearest
Authorized Oceanic Dealer for inspection and service. Only Authorized
Oceanic Dealers and their trained service technicians must perform this
retrofit. Non-authorized personnel who attempt the retrofit procedure risk
voiding the products warranty and rendering the product dangerously unsafe
for normal SCUBA use.
Thank you for your cooperation.
Sincerely,
Oceanic Technical Support
